We're in St. Andrews!

Well, brief pause from a much needed nap...we're still trying to figure out how to use our phones over here, but just to let you know we are in Scotland now! :-) More to come!

Summer Trip 2017 Begins

Hello from SFO! I'm testing this to see how blogging from my phone works. Haven't done that before! :-) We're just sitting here waiting for my plane. Once again I mastered getting everything I'll need for just over 2.5 weeks in a carry-on and tote! (Yes, I get laundry done on the trip to make it work). As you can (hopefully) see, Mike is checking out the planes while we wait to board, and I'm showing off my awesome luggage which is ALL I have with me. No bags checked! Woo hop! Please say a little prayer...not too excited about the flying, you know. But really looking forward to Scotland! Hairy coos here I come. :-)
Update...having trouble with the picture thing on here. Will add later!

More pictures

Hello! We've been to more places since our last post.

Below are some pictures of an area in County Clare called "The Burren". We visited it while staying in Lahinch. The landscape is covered with natural limestone pavements. We had a foggy day, which I think made The Burren really fascinating. The pictures don't do it justice. The area is very large...one of the guests at our B&B was a photography student who had spent 8 days at The Burren working on her portfolio!

We headed out of Lahinch to head to Enniscrone...

We found a house for our parents to share in case we ever move to Ireland...notice the For Sale sign.
:-)

These would be your neighbors, parents. 😂

Mid-way between Lahinch and Enniscrone, we stopped in Leenane to take a boat tour of the Killary Fjord. It was a rainy day, but still beautiful.

We arrived at Enniscrone. A tiny, tiny village. Smaller than Ballybunion, I think, but not sure! Bigger than Tres Pinos near home, though!

While staying in Enniscrone, we took a drive to Sligo which was about an hour away. Beautiful scenery....I think this mountain/hill is called Benbulben. Mike was really looking forward to seeing it.

After going through Sligo, we stopped at Parke's Castle on Lough Gill (lough means lake) and took a self-guided tour. It was really neat to go through it.

We ventured back to Enniscrone to eat at this tiny place called Pilot Bar. Mike had read about it in one of his books and was really looking forward to it. They had the best gluten free pizza!

Our B&B in Enniscrone.

Another big hill. I call them Lion King mountains. 😘

We checked out in Enniscrone and drove three plus hours to Portrush. We headed straight to the Giants Causeway. Basalt rock formations of the coast. Really interesting!

That's my "I'm done!" face. I was done for several reasons....first, you can't tell on this trail, but there were TONS of people at the causeway. It was nuts. We had been in teeny villages up until now, so I wasn't used to all the people again. The second reason I was done was because I have a lot of fears...flying...getting really sick...heights...oh, I don't know....mountainsides crumbling down upon me??? And bit by bit I conquer them, no matter how uncomfortable I get...But sometimes my poor scared brain just needs a rest, you know?

Homesick?

Hi! It's just me....I'm having a great time, but I'm getting a little homesick for the voices and faces of my friends and family! I love you and miss you!

And I miss my snuggle bug....

Picture catch up day!!!

Lunch today in Lahinch, County Clare. Chicken stir fry....wonderful change from pub food!!!

Isn't Mike looking so relaxed??? He just got done playing Lahinch Golf Club.

Thanks, Mom & Sam, for this adapter. It sure comes in handy with all our gadgets when it's time to charge them!

A wood carving at the entrance to the Cliffs of Moher.

Sheep booties!

Walking along the trail above the Cliffs of Moher...pointing to my sheep mates!

This is a pic while walking along the Cliffs trail.

This is probably one of the most familiar shot of the Cliffs of Moher. We got so lucky on that day...good visibility. Today, people are having a hard time viewing them because of the fog.

Selfie at the Cliffs of Moher!

More at the Cliffs of Moher. Those people down on that ledge are CRAZY! I don't think you're supposed to go down there...

Here is a shot back in a town called Ballybunion at the Bromore Cliffs entrance. We stayed in Ballybunion one night.

Selfie with the horse on the trail to see Bromore Cliffs. :-) Mike loves this one.

From atop Bromore Cliffs in Ballybunion.

Selfie at Bromore Cliffs! Just over Mike's shoulder you can see a bit of the top of the "Devil's Castle" (a stack of rocks in the sea).

More Bromore cliffs.

I finally decided to give the driving a shot while in Ballybunion. Not so bad!

Our B&B in Ballybunion.

Their sign at the B&B. The view of the hills and valleys was pretty.

I DID fit everything in a carry on and a tote! :-)

My fear face whenever we are in the car...driving on the wrong side of the road!

One of the streets of Killarney.

Leaving Killarney. :-( I loved Killarney the best so far.

In front of our B&B in Killarney. The innkeepers there were so nice and wonderful.
